Sarah Clark Miller to serve as NEH visiting scholar

Sarah Clark Miller will serve as a visiting scholar for “Diverse Philosophical Approaches to Sexual Violence,” a National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Institute to be held at Elon University June 18-30, 2017.

 

Ann J. Cahill will direct the institute, which will address ke

y questions focusing on the meanings of sexual violence, the nature of the harms it imposes, the difference between sexual violence and other sexual acts, and individual and collective responsibilities to respond to sexual violence. The institute will include themes such as embodiment and vulnerability; consent and its limits; the role of the state; power, inequality, and justice; and globalism, localism, and difference.

The application deadline is March 1, 2017.
