Students in the Department of Philosophy Doctoral Program must select a faculty member from the Department of Philosophy to serve as Dissertation Director of their Doctoral Committee by the beginning of their fifth semester (typically the summer before their third year in the program).
The student will consult with the Dissertation Director to select the remaining Doctoral Committee members and complete the Doctoral Committee Appointment Signature Form (available from the Graduate Studies Program Assistant) which must be submitted to the Graduate School no later than one calendar year after the date of the student’s qualifying exam. This deadline is in accordance with Graduate School policy (https://gradschool.psu.edu/graduate-education-policies/gcac/gcac-600/gcac-602-phd-committee-formation/).
Please submit the completed form to the Graduate Studies Program Assistant in 234 Sparks Building.
