Philosophy Alum, Sara Treumann ‘14, received an Liberal Arts Alumni Honoree Award from the Department of Philosophy, presented at the 2026 Alumni Awards Ceremony.

Sara Treumann, recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Award, earned dual bachelor of arts degrees in philosophy and political science from Penn State in 2014, where she was deeply involved in Mock Trial—competing in tournaments nationwide and helping manage the student-run organization. She also participated in Triota, the Women’s Studies Honors Society, and completed an early internship in criminal defense with the Bronx Legal Aid Society.

Treumann went on to earn her JD from the University of Minnesota Law School as a Robina Public Interest Scholar. During law school, she continued her involvement in Mock Trial as both a competitor and coach, volunteered with the Asylum Law Project, and returned to the Bronx Legal Aid Society as a law student intern.

Since 2017, Treumann has served with the Dutchess County Public Defender’s Office, where she has risen to bureau chief. She is recognized for her trial advocacy, courtroom experience, and commitment to her clients.
