Brent Matheny (he/him) is a PhD student in Philosophy at Pennsylvania State University. He received an MA in Philosophy from the CUNY Graduate Center in 2024 and a BA in Philosophy from Kenyon College in 2019. His primary area of interest is at the intersection of the philosophy of language and normative ethics, specifically how a feminist ethic of care and a broadly neo-pragmatist understanding of language and normativity might be mutually grounding. In addition to this project, he has emerging interests in Buddhist and Chinese philosophy and comparative philosophy more generally. Before and during his MA, he worked as a Project Editor at Oxford University Press, New York managing books in Philosophy, Classics, and Biblical Studies. He is managing editor of ROOM: A Sketchbook for Analytic Action, an online and print magazine that brings together political commentary and psychoanalytic insight for a general audience. Brent is a Florida man at heart.
